UMW Men's Cross Country Places 4th at C2C Championships; Women Finish 5th

The University of Mary Washington cross country teams competed at the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships in Santa Cruz, California on Saturday. The men finished in fourth place, while the women placed in fifth place.

On the men's side, freshman Nicholas Smerlis finished in 19th place overall, with a time of 26:16. Junior Jacob Lohr was 28th, at 26:49.1, and sophomore Luke Blair was 29th, at 24:49.6. Sophomore Aidan Kimener finished in 31st place at 27:23, and senior Dylan Wright placed 33rd with a time of 27:50.

The Eagles finished with 109 points. UC Santa Cruz won with 17, followed by Christopher Newport with 58, and Salisbury with 64. Pratt was fifth at 155 points.

For the women, the Eagles were led by senior Grace Pippin, who finished in 28th place overall, with a time of 24:11. Junior Julia Snow placed 34th at 25:23, and junior Jessica Oberlies took 35th at 25:34. Freshman Eyaya Fletcher was 40th overall with a time of 26:54, and sophomore Enya Cea-Lavin was 42nd, at 27:19.

Santa Cruz finished first, with 15 points, while Christopher Newport was second with 61. Salisbury was third with 75, Pratt was fourth with 125 points, one point ahead of the Eagles' 126.

UMW will be back in action on November 11 at the NCAA Regional Championships in Rome, Ga.
