UMW Men's XC Places 2nd at Salisbury's Don Cathcart Invite; Women Take 4th

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Don Cathcart Invitational in Salisbury, Md., on Saturday afternoon. The men finished in second place among 11 schools, while the women finished fourth among nine.

On the men's side, senior Patrick Murphy finished third overall at 25:41, and senior Nick Onorato finished eighth at 26:36. Sophomore Jacob Lohr was 15th at 27:21, freshman Aidan Kimener was 23rd at 28:02, and junior Julian Burke rounded out the top five in 28th place at 28:20.

The Eagles finished second with 74 points, behind the host Salisbury's 22 points, and just ahead of Wilmington, Shenandoah, and Stevenson.

For the women, senior Teresa Guzman finished eighth at 23:57 to lead the squad, with Grace Pippin taking 22nd at 24:46, sophomore Jessica Oberlies in 28th at 25:22, and Amanda Morrissey in 30th at 25:29. Freshman Sophie Jensen rounded out the top five in 45th place at 27:25.

UMW finished with 104 points, behind Salisbury (38), Shenandoah (52), and Delaware State (90), and just ahead of Wilmington, Hood, and Maryland-Eastern Shore.

The Eagles will be back in action on October 15 at the Rowan University Inter-Regional Rumble in Glassboro, N.J.
