UMW Cross Country Teams Compete at Shenandoah Invite

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Shenandoah University Hornet Harrier on Saturday in Winchester, Va. The men finised second among four schools in the 6K race, while the women finished third in the 5K race.

On the men's side, senior Patrick Murphy finished second overall at 19:13, and was followed by classmate Nick Onorato in third, at 19:25. Feshman Aidan Kimener finished eighth at 20:39, junior Dylan Wright finished 10th at 20:47, and junior Julian Burke placed 12th at 21:05.

The men finished with 35 points, behind first-place McDaniel (27), and ahead of Ursinus (58) and Marymount (108).

For the women, senior Teresa Guzman led the way, finishing in eighth place at 20:53. Sophomore Jessica Oberlies finished 12th at 21:15, Julia Snow took 17th at 22:45, and freshman Sophie Jensen took 26th at 23:37. Freshman Enya Cea-Lavin rounded out the top five in 27th place at 23:43.

The Eagles finished with 83 points, behind Washington & Lee (20), and McDaniel (81), gaining a tiebreaker over Ursinus, also with 83, and ahead of Virginia Wesleyan (96).

Both teams will be back in action next Saturday at the Don Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University.
