UMW Men's and Women's Cross Country Compete at Dickinson Long-Short Invitational

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational on Saturday. The men finished seventh among 22 teams in the 8K race, while the women placed ninth among 25 teams in the 6K race, and 10th among 23 teams in the 4K race.

The men saw sophomore Jeff Gibson finish 18th overall in the 8K at 26:49, with junior Kyle Pfohl taking 22nd at 27:04. Senior Kevin Jones was 23rd at 27:05, junior Calhoun Stirling placed 37th at 27:41, and junior J.P. Burklow finished 42nd at 27:50.

For the women, freshman Maggie Larkin paced the team in the 6K, finishing 25th at 23:49. Junior Jillian Weisbeck placed 32nd at 24:07, and junior Emily Knerr took 41st at 24:36. Freshman Ashley Applegate took 53rd at 225:07, and senior Marin Bader finished 61st at 25:32.

In the 4K, sophomore Kristy White finished 39th at 16:05, followed by freshman Leah Saling in 42nd place at 16:17. Freshman Olivia Story was 61st at 17:00, and sophomore Ava Robb-McCord took 64th at 17:26.

Both teams will return to action on October 14 when they visit the Oberlin College Invitational at 10:00 a.m.
