UMW Sophomore Kyle Pfohl Named CAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington sophomore Kyle Pfohl was honored as the CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Sept. 20, 2016.

Mary Washington sophomore Kyle Pfohl was honored as the CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after leading all College Division runners with a first-place finish at the William & Mary Invitational on Friday. Pfohl crossed the line with a time of 19:53.3 in the 6k, helping the Eagles to a second-place team finish.

Christopher Newport is ranked 30th in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Week 1 (9/14) Coaches Poll. The Captains earned 50 points in the poll ... Freshman Jason Putnam led the Captains at the William & Mary Invitational with a fourth-place individual finish. That performance helped lead CNU to the team title with 32 points ... Frostburg State won its second-consecutive meet after taking the title at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational. Senior Xavier Alvarez powered the Bobcats with a third-place finish in 28:03. A week ago, FSU captured the Westmoreland Invitational Title ... Senior Eric Ortiz finished first for St. Mary's at the Division II/III Challenge at Kutztown, crossing in 29:01.3 for 124th-place finish ... Salisbury freshman Branson Oduor, in just his second collegiate race, placed second at the Bill Fritz/Charlie Way Invitational hosted by Rowan. Oduor ran the course in 25:24, just 22 seconds behind the race winner ... York took ninth out of 19 teams at the Division II/III Challenge, led by junior Grant Dell in 57th (27:44.3). Dell was the first of four consecutive York finishers in the race.
