UMW Men's and Women's Cross Country Open 2016 Season at CNU Invitational Relays in Richmond

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2016 season on Thursday evening in Richmond, Va., for the Christopher Newport Invitational Relays.

The women finished third, behind CNU and Virginia Commonwealth. Rosie Kostka and Molly Garthwaite was the Eagles' top duo, finishing in 12th place. Brianna Dolecki and Briana Gralia took 15th, Emily Knerr and Ava Robb-McCord took 16th, and Marin Bader and Hailey Hopkins finished 17th. The Eagles finished with 43 points.

For the men, the Eagles finished second to CNU with 43 points. Austin Jones and Calhoun Stirling finished 13th, J.P. Burklow and Scott Black finished 14th, and Chris Markham and Yonathan Eshetu took 16th. Grant Mitchell and Joey Cronin were 19th, Kevin Jones and Andrew Park placed 20th, and Stephen Tivenan and Danny Reed were 21st.

The Eagles will compete again on September 16 at William and Mary.
