University of Mary Washington sophomore Teagan Young, on the strength of her first place finish in the regional championship, was named region runner of the year by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday.
Young won the regional by eight seconds, and is the first Eagle to be so honored by the USTFCCCA. She also took first at the CAC Championship en route to CAC Runner of the Year honors, and also previously won the Don Cathcart Invitational.
Young and senior Lauren Braney will compete at the NCAA Championship this Saturday in Mason, Ohio.
