UMW Women's XC Takes Fifth at Dickinson; Men Place Eighth

The regionally-ranked University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Dickinson College Long/Short Relays on Saturday in Carlisle, Pa., with the men placing eighth and the women taking eighth.

For the men, who finished eighth among 30 schools and ran exclusively in the 8K race, Julian Menk was the top finisher in 40th place at 27:50. He was followed by Corey Lyons in 58th place at 28:12, and Chris Markham in 59th at 28:13. Freshman Kevi Speray took 73rd place, followed by Jeff Branson in 77th place at 28:36.

The women finished in fifth place, running exclusively in the 6K race. Junior Tara Landy finished 15th overall at 23:15, followed closely by Lauren Braney in 16th place at 23:18. Victoria Parent took 44th overall at 25:21, while Trinity Smyth was 47th at 25:32, and Sam Park placed 53rd at 25:48.

Both teams will return to action next Friday at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University.
