UMW Cross Country Teams Compete at Brooks' Paul Short Run at Lehigh University

The Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed in one of the largest and most competitive races in the country on Friday at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University.

The women finished 30th among 40 schools in the Brown Division, which included mostly Division I schools. Tara Landy was UMW's top finisher in 99th place at 23:50; followed by Liz Green in 152nd at 24:22, Lauren Braney in 156th at 24:24, Colleen Boyle in 163rd at 24:28, and Trinity Smyth in 178th at 24:37.

The men raced in the White Division, and placed second among 40 schools, primarily all Division III schools. Senior Scott Plunkett finished fourth overall with a time of 26:28, followed by Corey Lyons in 21st place at 27:13, Sean Healy in 28th at 27:26, Jeff Branson in 35th place at 27:30, and Julian Menk in 37th place at 27:32.

Both teams will return to action next Saturday when they compete in the Goucher College Invitational in Towson, Md.
