UMW Cross Country Teams Compete at NCAA South/Southeast Regionals
The University of Mary Washington men's cross country team finished in ninth place while the women placed 10th at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Championships in Memphis, Tenn., on Saturday. Sophomore Scott Plunkett (Annandale, Va., Annandale) gained all-region honors for the men, finishing in 22nd place with a time of 26:18. Senior Sarah Dawes (Chesapeake Beach, Md., Huntingtown) garnered all-region honors for the women, taking 18th place at 23:05.

The men's top five saw Plunkett in 22nd place at 26:18, followed by Chris Marino (Portland, Conn., Portland) in 41st place at 26:47, Sean Healy (Berryville, Va., Clarke County) in 54th at 27:02, and Kyle Anderson (New Milford, Conn., New Milford) in 65th at 27:18. Senior Stephen Harrison (Sterling, Va., Park View) rounded out the top five in 81st place at 27:33.

The UMW women saw Dawes take 18th at 23:05, followed by freshman Elizabeth Green (Viera, Fla., Viera) in 32nd place at 23:25, Madelyn Crowell (Danville, Va., Chatham) in 62nd place at 24:28, Dawn Rainbolt (Gaithersburg, Md., Quince Orchard) in 70th at 24:41, and Kristy Witek (Fairfax, Va., Chantilly) in 75th at 24:43.
