2005 University of Mary Washington Men's Cross Country Season in Review

What started as a vey strong group with several meet victories under its belt ended in disappointment for the Eagles, as injuries ravaged their hopes of winning the conference title for back-to-back seasons and advancing to the national championships.

The Eagles won September meets at McDaniel College and Greensboro College. With momentum on their side, the Eagles placed fourth at the highly-competitive DeSales Invitational among 23 schools. But the injury bug hit the team hard in October, and the Eagles placed second at the Capital Athletic Conference championships and ninth at the NCAA regional race in Conway, AR.

A group of returnees that include Justin Kirk, Matt Downs, George Winslow, and Luke Wolverton will look to rebound with a conference championship and healthy campaign in 2006.
