1993 Mary Washington College Women's Cross Country Season in Review

Even with other CAC schools claiming medalists in the cross country races, MWC runners took four of the next five spots in both runs to easily take team crowns. The MWC women also raced to a fourth straight Mason-Dixon Invitational Championship, and the men and women were both second at the Virginia Division II-III Championships.

After capturing their third straight CAC title and a fourth consecutive Mason-Dixon crown, the Eagles aim to continue the success in '94. Graduation claimed All-CAC captain Karen Dickinson, but MWC returns the core of the '93 squad. Leading a tight pack up front should be senior Etta Agan (Fredericksburg, VA), juniors Allison Coleman (Midlothian, VA), Alicia Faggart (Richmond, VA), Krystal Fogg (Stockton, NJ) and sophs Laura Douglas (Fredericksburg, VA), Becky Novak (Ijamsville, MD) and Moraima Santiago (Woodbridge, VA).

Agan, Coleman, Douglas, Novak and Santiago made the All-Conference team last fall for finishing among the Top 15 at the CAC Championships. Incoming freshmen who could challenge for the top group include Becky Boyd (King George, VA) and Caitlin McGurk (Alexandria, VA).

"As always, our women's team will be severely challenged when it comes time for the 'championship' portion of our season," said Soper. "We will have to be ready and healthy ifwe are to reach some of our team goals for this season."
