#21 UMW Volleyball Tops W&L, 3-0, for Best Start in Program History; Lyons Digs #1000

The 21st ranked University of Mary Washington volleyball team defeated Washington & Lee University, 3-0, to extend its season-opening win streak to a school record 11 straight victories, and senior Jordan Lyons recorded her 1000th career dig on Saturday at Ron Rosner Arena. Game scores were 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.

Senior Bryanna Miller led the Eagle attack with 14 kills against no errors in 29 attempts, and Lyons scored 12 kills against four errors in 33 tries. The balanced Eagle attack saw Emily Flamm and Caitlyn Burch each score seven kills, with Chloe Crosen and Emma Hadley each scoring six.

Brenna Campbell led the Eagles with 21 assists, while Lauren Foley added 20, to go with a pair of service aces. Hannah Livermon posted a team-high 26 digs, with Lyons adding 21 and Miller 12 in scoring double-doubles. Hadley scored two solo blocks and one assist.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Haverford College at 7:00 p.m.
