#21 UMW Volleyball Sweeps Salem, William Peace to Improve to 9-0

The 21st ranked University of Mary Washington volleyball team swept a pair of matches against Salem College and host William Peace University on Saturday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Eagles extend their season-opening win streak to nine.

UMW opened the day with a 3-0 win over Salem College, with game scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-17. The Eagles were led by senior Caitlyn Burch, who scored 11 kills without an error in 15 attempts, and added three solo blocks and one block assist. Senior Jordan Lyons reached a team-high 14 kills against three errors in 24 attempts, and added eight digs.

Lauren Foley scored 21 assists and Brooke Cunningham added 12, and Hannah Livermon led wih 14 digs.

The Eagles then topped William Peace, by scores of 25-12, 25-17, 25-18. Bryanna Miller led the way with 12 kills against one error in 23 attempts, while Lyons scored 10 kills against three errors in 21 attempts. Foley posted 20 assiss and Cunningham 12, and Lyons led with 13 digs.

UMW will be back in action on Wednesday at Bridgewater College at 7:00 p.m.
