UMW Volleyball Falls to Johns Hopkins in NCAA Tournament Regional Final

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Johns Hopkins University on Saturday evening at Ron Rosner Arena in the NCAA Tournament regional final. The Eagles close an historic season with a 26-8 record.

The Eagles battled hard throughout, but JHU hit a blistering .363 with just 13 errors in the entire match. UMW jumped ahead early in the first, but the match went back-and-forth throughout the first. The Blue Jays pulled away late for a 25-20 win.

In the second, Hopkins registered 20 kills against just three errors, but UMW kept fighting and keeping within striking distance, eventually falling, 25-20. In the third, Hopkins gained another 25-20 win in the deciding game.

Junior Jordan Lyons and junior Caitlyn Burch were named to the all-regional team. Lyons seven kills and seven digs, while Burch scored six kills i seven attempts with no errors. Sophomore Chloe Crosen led with eight kills, and sophomore Sarah Moore added six. Sophomore Lauren Foley had 18 assists and junior Brenna Campbell 10. Sophomore Hannah Livermon added 10 digs and two aces.
