UMW Volleyball Sweeps Southern Virginia on Wednesday Night

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team defeated Southern Virginia University in three games on Wednesday night at Ron Rosner Arena. Game scores were 25-21, 25-18, 25-19; the Eagles improve to 16-5 on the season.

UMW fell behind early in the first game, but rallied to even the score midway through, and took charge late. The Eagles jumped on top in the second and third, and led comfortably toward the end of each.

Junior Jordan Lyons scored 11 kills and 14 digs for the Eagles, while senior Krista Rodgers added nine kills and four blocks (three solo). Sophomore Lauren Foley scored 17 assists, and junior Brenna Campbell added 15, and Hannah Livermon and Sarah Moore each led with 15 digs. Lyons added three service aces.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they host Ithaca College at 10 a.m. and Salisbury University at 2 p.m.
