UMW Volleyball Tops CNU in Five Games on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped the first two games, but roared back to win the final three in a 3-2 victory at Christopher Newport University on Saturday afternoon in Newport News, Va. Mary Washington improves to 11-3 on the season, and runs its win streak to seven straight.

After dropping the first game, 25-19, UMW also fell in the second, 25-20, before mounting the largest of comebacks. The Eagles controlled game three, 25-16, and took the fourth, 25-18, before claiming the deciding game, 15-7.

The Eagles were led by sophomore Sarah Moore's 14 kills, while sophomore Chloe Crosen added 11. Sophomore Lauren Foley led with 21 assists, with junior Brenna Campbell adding 15.Senior Krista Rodgers posted seven kills and eight total blocks, while junior Caitlyn Burch added four kills and seven total blocks. Junior Dakota Hansen scored 21 digs, while Jordan Lyons added 16 digs and eight kills.

Mary Washington will be back in action on Sunday when the Eagles face UC Santa Cruz and Salisbury at Christopher Newport.
