UMW Volleyball Falls at Lynchburg, 3-1, on Wednesday Night

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at the University of Lynchburg on Wednesday night in Lynchburg. The Eagles slip to 12-8 on the season; game scores were 25-21, 19-25, 25-15, 25-23.

The Eagles fell victim to eight attack errors in the first game, hitting .103. They improved in the second to hit .268, but hit just .077 in the third and .204 in the fourth, although they limited themselves to just four errors in the fourth.

Junior middle hitter Krista Rodgers (Fairfax, Va. / Fairfax) led the Eagles with 19 kills, against three errors in 42 attempts. Sophomore Jordan Lyons (Fairfax, Va. / W.T. Woodson) scored eight kills and a team-high 21 digs, while junior Makenna Santinga (Madison, Va. / Madison County) posted 13 assists and 14 digs. Freshman Lauren Foley (Virginia Beach, Va. / First Colonial) scored 27 assistsand added eight digs for UMW.

Mary Washington will be back in action on Saturday when they host Christopher Newport University at noon and Randolph College at 4 p.m. on senior day.
