UMW Volleyball Drops Matches to Muhlenberg, #12 Johns Hopkins on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped matches to Muhlenberg College and twelfth-ranked Johns Hopkins University on Saturday in Baltimore, MD. The Eagles lost their first match Muhlenberg, 3-1, before falling to JHU 3-0. UMW slips to 10-11 overall.

In the first match, Muhlenberg won the first set 25-20. The Eagles won set number two 25-23 to tie the match at 1-1. Muhlenberg went on to win the next two sets 25-23 and 25-15.

Savannah Powers recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. Krista Rodgers helped pace the Eagles with 10 kills, while hitting .316. Peyton Dunow chipped in eight kills. Tenley Hares and Aidan Finegan each recorded six kills a piece. Wren Berry dished out 35 assists in the match. Kendal Hall led the Eagles with 22 digs.

JHU took the second match in three-set fashion. The Blue Jays won 25-15, 25-13, 25-13. Dunow led the Eagles in the second match with eight kills on 14 attempts. Hares added seven kills and Powers chipped In five kills. Berry dished out 20 assists, while Hall had nine digs. 

UMW will be back in action on Wednesday as they will host Salisbury for CAC matchup at 7 p.m.
