UMW Volleyball Takes Down Wesley, 3-0 in CAC Matchup

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team took down Wesley, 3-0, on Friday night in Dover, DE. Game scores were 26-24, 25-20, and 25-19. The Eagles improve to 11-6, and run their winning streak to seven games. UMW is now 3-0 in conference play.

In the first game, UMW went down early 4-0. Wesley led the whole game till the Eagles jumped ahead 25-24. The Eagles were down 21-24, until they went on a 5-0 run to complete the comeback and win the set 26-24. Wren Berry capped off the set with one of her five service aces.

The second game saw Wesley take another early lead of 5-2. The two teams traded points until the Eagles made a run and grasped a lead of 12-11 on a kill from freshman Tenley Hares. The Eagles did not relinquish the lead and ended the second game on another Berry ace to win, 25-20.

In the third, the Wolverines jumped ahead early and had the lead at 16-14. UMW then reeled off eight points in a row. Sophomore Savannah Powers contributed four kills and Berry added three aces to account for seven of those points. The Eagles won the third game 25-19 on a kill from Peyton Dunow.

Powers led the Eagles with 19 kills and nine digs, while Dunow added 18 kills against four errors on 31 attempts.

Berry led the way with 44 assists, and senior Jenna Yost provided eight digs.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Salisbury for CAC matchup. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
