UMW Volleyball Improves to 5-0; Wins Haverford Invitational with Sunday Wins vs. Clark, MIT

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team defeated Clark University, 3-2, and MIT, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Haverford College Invitational, to finish as the only undefeated team in the event and move to 5-0 on the season.

In the 3-0 victory over MIT, junior Rachel Hendricks led the way with 13 kills against three errors. Senior setter Emma Olson had five kills, 24 assists, right digs, and three block assists, and Skyler Sisk had four kills with no errors, and added four block assists.

UMW posted just 10 errors in the match, hitting .364 in the third and deciding set. The Eagles forced MIT into 21 errors.

The Eagles opened the day with a 3-2 win over Clark University. Game scores were 18-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Hendricks led the way with 22 kills for the Eagles, While Leslie Walters had nine kills, Rachel Voketaitis eight, and Savannah Powers seven. Powers posted 18 digs, while Olson added 47 assists and nine digs.

Powers, Olson, and Hendricks were named to the all-tournament team. No MVP was selected.

The Eagles, 5-0 on the season, will make its home debut on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. when they host Virginia Wesleyan College.
