Once again this year, Wagner Wealth Management will sponsor the monthly UMW Athlete of the Month. The first monthly winner is junior Emma Olson of the volleyball team.
Olson, a setter from Oakton, Va., has led the volleyball team to new heights this September, as the team is receiving votes in the national AVCA poll. The Eagles are 14-4 on the season, and earlier defeated 18th ranked Mount Union College for the program's first-ever win over a ranked opponent.
Olson ranks near the top of nearly every statistical category for the Eagles, with 1.5 kills per set, with a .228 hitting percentage, 537 assists, 29 service aces, 191 digs, and 23 total blocks. The versatile junior does a little bit of everything for the Eagles, on both offense and defense.
