UMW Volleyball Splits Pair of Matches on Saturday; Falls at #12 Eastern, Sweeps Rowan

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team split a pair of matches at 12th ranked Eastern University on Saturday, falling in three games to the Eagles before sweeping Rowan University in three games.

UMW opened against Eastern, and fell, 25-15, 25-17, 25-22. Rachel Hendricks had six kills and Leslie Walters and Emma Murphy each had five kills each for UMW. Emma Olson had 14 assists and seven digs, while Jenna Yost had eight digs.

In the second match, UMW defeated Rowan University, 25-14, 25-17, 25-20. Olson led the Eagles with 10 kills, 16 assists, five digs, and a pair of blocks. Hendricks had nine kills and Murphy had eight, with Eve Williamson adding 14 assists and Yost 13 digs. Caroline Porco had 11 digs for the Eagles as well.

Mary Washington moves to 13-4 on the season, and will be back in action on Wednesday when they visit Frostburg State University at 7:00 p.m. in Capital Athletic Conference play.
