UMW Volleyball Falls to Gallaudet in Five Sets

The University of Mary Washington women's volleyball team lost a nip and tuck five set match to Gallaudet University Thursday night at the William M. Anderson Center. Each set found neither team winning by no more than three points until the Bison pulled away in the fifth and final set to take the victory 23-25, 27-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-10.

Senior oustide hitter Ellen Smethurst led the Eagles with 14 kills and junior outside hitter Kaitlynn Wickersham added 9 kills. Freshman setter Maggie Parrish had 23 assists and four service aces for Mary Washington, with junior libero Cristine Tran adding 33 digs on the defensive side of the net. 

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 5-8 overall (1-2 CAC) on the season. They will be in action again Wednesday October 10 when they play host to Wesley College at 7 PM at the Anderson Center.
