Sophomore Kayla Crawford scored 10 kills to pace the University of Mary Washington volleyball team to a 3-0 win over McDaniel College on Friday night before 600 fans at the William M. Anderson Center in both teams' season opener. Set scores were 25-8, 25-11, 25-12.

In a balanced attack, UMW saw senior Ellen Smethurst add four kills without an error, and senior Karissa Herrick add three kills. Freshmen Courtney Guengerich and Maggie Parrish each had nine assists to pace the Eagles, while junior Emily Shea added eight digs. Crawford and Guengerich each had two aces. The Green Terror was led by Melissa Weldon's seven digs and kill, and Olivia Kunc's six digs.

Mary Washington will return to action on September 5 when they host Bridgewater College at 7:00 p.m.
