UMW Volleyball Closes Regular Season with 3-2 Loss at Johns Hopkins


The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision at Johns Hopkins University on Saturday morning in Baltimore, Md. The Eagles enter the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament with an 18-8 record. Game scores were 25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-4.

Freshman libero Kaitlynn Wickersham (Midlothian, Va., Manchester) led the Eagles with 24 digs, and freshman Hannah Lawson (Charlottesville, Va., Albemarle) added 14 digs. Junior setter Katie Shiflett (Weyers Cave, Va., Fort Defiance)scored 27 assists and 10 digs, while Laura Gomez (Charlottesville, Va., Albemarle) had 10 kills, Tola Adebanjo (Overland Park, Ks., Blue Valley Northwest) had nine, and Karissa Herrick (Colts Neck, N.J., Colts Neck) scored eight.

The Eagles will host either Salisbury University or Stevenson University in the CAC Tournament semifinals at Goolrick Gymnasium on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
