UMW Volleyball Splits Pair at Elizabethtown

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Elizabethtown College Tournament on Saturday afternoon to move to 12-5 on the season. The Eagles defeated Elizabethtown in five games, 25-19, 18-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-13 before falling in five games to Neumann College, 15-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-21, 16-14.

In the win over Elizabethtown, Laura Gomez had 13 kills in 27 attempts with one error, while Hannah Lawson had 16 kills in 23 attempts. Tola Adebanjo added 13 kills, Karissa Herrick had eight kills and four blocks, and Katie Shiflett and Sammy Hogue each had 24 assists.

In the loss to Neumann, Lawson scored 14 kills and three aces, Herrick added 14 kills, Cleo Baker scored eight kills and five blocks, and Laura Gomez added five blocks. Shiflett had 25 assists and Hogue added 14 assists for the Eagles.

Mary Washington (12-5) will host Salisbury University on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Goolrick Gymnasium.
