The 26th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to 19th ranked Case Western Reserve University on Sunday at the Hegmann Family Tennis Complex. The Eagles slip to 4-5 on the season.
The Eagles fell behind after dropping all three doubles matches. Amanda Hagino and Hana Kimmey fell at one, 8-4, Addison Felts and Emily Beckner fell at two, 8-1, and Jacey Copeland and Riley Smith dropped an 8-6 score at three.
In singles, Eagle victories came from Felts at three, who defeated Katalina Wang, 6-4, 6-2, and Beckner at four, who topped Anna Kan, 7-6, 4-6, 10-8. After dropping the first set at two, Kimmey evened the score before falling, 10-8, in the tiebreaker.
The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Gustavus Adolphus College at 3:00 p.m.
