#27 UMW Women's Tennis Tops #33 Vassar, 5-4, to Improve to 2-0

The 27th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team edged #33 Vassar College, 5-4, on Saturday in the Eagles' spring road opener. UMW improves to 2-0.

UMW jumped ahead in doubles, as number one duo Hana Kimmey and Amanda Hagino scored an 8-2 win, and Addison felts and Emily Beckner added another at two, 8-4.

The teams split the singles matches to give UMW the one-point victory. Kimmey scored a 6-1, 6-4 win at two, and Beckner won at four, 7-5, 6-2, setting the stage for senior Riley Smith, who won the clincher at six, 4-6, 6-2, 8-6.

The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday against host Swarthmore College at 11:00 a.m.
