The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team opened the 2023-24 season at the U.S. Naval Academy's Bill and Sandra Moore Invitaional this weekend in Annapolis, Md.

In singles play, the Eagles were led by freshman Addison Felts, who scored three victories in claiming the B draw consolation title. She defeated Gouri Bhagia, 6-2, 2-6, 10-3, Caterina Casadei, 6-2, 6-1, and Hana McKinney, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Sophomore Madison McCarty claimed the E flight consolation title, defeating Mckenzie Lee, in a walkover, Valeria Gonzalez, 6-3, 6-4, and Britney Korir, 6-3, 6-3.

McCarty and Evie Snyder scored a doubles win in the consolation C flight, 6-3, over Gonzalez and Korir.

The Eagles will compete at Christopher Newport next weekend.
