#14 UMW Women's Tennis Tops #25 CNU, 8-1, on Thursday

The 14th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated 25th ranked Christopher Newport University, 8-1, on Thursday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 9-5 on the season.

In doubles, the Eagles scored all three points, as Abby Moghtader and Lauren Quinn defeated Ana Clara Borga and Raine Weis, 8-1, at one, and Claire Coleman and Amanda Hagino topped Megan Bauer and Kendra Womack, 8-1, at two. Hana Kimmey and Emily Beckner defeated Kiersten Chang and Karina Crivtonencu, 8-3, at three.

In singles, Coleman downed Chang at two, 6-2, win by retirement, Quinn topped Crivtonencu at three, 6-3, 6-0, and Hagino defeated Campbell, 6-1, 6-1. Kimmey defeated Womack, 6-2, 6-4, and Beckner defeated Bauer at six, 7-5, 6-1.

The Eagles will be back in action on April 23 against Johns Hopkins, with first matches starting at 1 p.m. at the Battleground.
