The 13th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated 17th ranked Washington & Lee University, 6-3, on Suunday in Lexington, Va. The Eagles improve to 8-4 on the season.
The Eagles opened swiftly, sweeping all three doubles matches to take a commanding lead. Junior Abby Moghtader and senior Lauren Quinn defeated Taylor Garcia and Izzy Koziol at one doubles, 8-2. Senior Claire Coleman and junior Amanda Hagino topped Becket Waters and Gabi Moss at two, 8-5, and Emily Beckner and Hana Kimmey defeated Marta Mikos and Margaret Carlton at three, 8-5.
In singles, the Eagles scored wins from Moghtader at one over Garcia, 6-1, 6-4, from Coleman at two over Koziol, 7-6 (2), 6-2, and from Kimmey at five, 7-5, 1-6, 7-6 (5), over Mikos.
The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they visit Swarthmore College at 2:00 p.m.
