The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated Occidental College, 8-1, on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. The Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season.

The Eagles blew ahead with three wins in doubles. Claire Coleman and Amanda Hagino topped Fukushigo and Fleming, 8-4, at one and Abby Moghtader and Lauren Quinn defeated Matalavena and Edson, 8-1, at two. Hana Kimmey and Emily Beckner defeated Silber and Wolber, 8-2, to complete the sweep.

In singles, Coleman defeated Fleming at two, 6-1, 6-3, Quinn topped Edson at three, 6-1, 6-0, and Hagino stopped Matalovera, 6-4, 6-1, at four. Kimmey defeated Campbell at five, 6-2, 6-1, at five, and Beckner beat Depery, 6-2, 6-2, at six.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they face the University of Redlands at 4:00 p.m.
