UMW Women's Tennis Blanks Sweet Briar on Wednesday Afternoon

The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team swept a 9-0 decision from visiting Sweet Briar College on Wednesday afternoon at the Indoor Tennis Center. The Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season.

The Eagles quickly jumped ahead with 8-0 doubles wins at two and three, with Claire Coleman and Amanda Hagino claiming the win at two, and Rachel Cooper and Sophie Dixon at three. Abby Moghtader and Lauren Quinn completed the sweep of doubles with an 8-4 victory at one.

In singles play, Olivia Moore gained a 6-0, 6-0 win at five, and Riley Smith claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at six to cinch the team victory. Hana Kimmey scored a straight set win at four, Hagino claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win at three, Coleman won at two, 6-0, 6-1, and Moghtader took a 6-3, 6-4 win at one to complete the day.

The Eagles will return to action on Friday when they visit Washington and Lee University at 3:30 p.m.
