UMW Women's Tennis Tops NC Wesleyan, 8-1, on Sunday

The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated North Carolina Wesleyan College, 8-1, on Sunday afternoon in Rocky Mount, N.C. Th Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season, and 2-0 against NCAA Division III schools.

In doubles play, the Eagles' number two team of Claire Coleman and Amanda Hagino won, 8-0, and the number three duo of Hana Kimmey and Olivia Moore were victorious by an 8-1 score. At one, Abby Moghtader and Lauren Quinn won, 8-4.

In singles action, Hagino, Rachel Cooper, and Kimmey won at four through six in straight sets, and Moghtader and Coleman won in third set super breakers to advance the score to 8-1. Quinn was forced to retire at three in the first set.

The Eagles will be back in action again on Wednesday when they host Sweet Briar College at 4:00 p.m.
