Kait Brogan Named CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington junior Kait Brogan was honored as the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Feb. 28, 2017.

Mary Washington junior Kait Brogan was named the CAC Player of the Week for the second time in 2016-17 after leading the 15th-ranked Eagles to a 4-0 start to the spring season. Brogan boasts a 3-0 mark at No. 1 singles and a 4-0 record at No. 1 doubles this spring. She has captured each of her three singles wins in straight sets, and she and doubles partner Taylor Diffley have yet to lose more than two games in a doubles matchup this spring. The Eagles have topped Meredith, Methodist, Franklin & Marshall, and Salisbury.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Five CAC teams have opened up their spring seasons, while Frostburg State, Penn State Harrisburg, and York will begin the spring campaign in mid-March ... Christopher Newport is 1-1 this spring, with an 8-1 loss to Washington & Lee and a 9-0 win over Southern Virginia in CAC action ... Melissa Barall was the lone winner for St. Mary's as Barall posted a straight set victory (7-5, 6-1) at Randolph-Macon ... Salisbury head coach Randy Halfpap picked up his 200th career win last weekend against Bridgewater (Va.). The milestone win comes in Halfpap's 18th season as the Salisbury head coach and brings his career record with the program to 200-95 overall. Salisbury freshman Annika Kezman has gone 4-1 in singles play to open the season ... Southern Virginia freshman Natalie Teets was the only Knight to win two games against her Christopher Newport opponent in singles.
