18th Ranked UMW Women's Tennis Tops #17 Skidmore, 7-2, on Friday Evening for Catullo's 200th Win at UMW

The 18th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team swept all six singles matches in defeating 17th ranked Skidmore College, 7-2, on Friday evening at the Battleground for head coach Patrick Catullo's 200th career win at UMW. The Eagles improve to 7-2 on the season.

Skidmore opened by winning two of three doubles matches to grab an early 2-1 lead. All-Americans Shelby Harris and Kait Brogan won at one, 8-4, for UMW's point, while Skidmore won at two, 8-5, and three, 9-7.

The Eagles assumed the lead with quick wins at two from Caroline Mosberg, 6-3, 6-1, and from Mackenzie Smith at five, 6-3, 6-1. Kait Brogan then won at one, 6-3, 6-3, to push the advantage to 4-2, and Chrissy Gaul won at four in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, to clinch the match.

Taylor Diffley won at three, 6-0, 3-6, 6-4, to push the margin to 6-2, and Danielle Mirabella completed the win with a victory at six singles.

The Eagles will continue hosting the Blue/Grey Invitational on Saturday when they face Bates College at 2:00 p.m.
