
The 18th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated 40th ranked Chapman University by a score of 7-2 on Friday evening in California. The Eagles improve to 4-1 on the season.
The Eagles gained a 2-1 advantage in doubles, with Mackenzie Smith and Taylor Diffley winning at two, 8-2, and Caroline Mosberg and Sara Fioretti winning at three, 8-0.
In singles, Kait Brogan won at one, 6-2, 6-1, Chrissy Gaul won at three, 6-1, 6-0, and Diffley won at four, 6-0, 6-1. At five, Smith won, 6-0, 6-2, and at six, Danielle Mirabella won at six, 6-0, 6-0.
The Eagles will close their spring trip on Saturday afternoon at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at 1:00 p.m.
