#19 UMW Women's Tennis Tops Washington Md., 7-2, on Thursday Evening

The 19th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated Washington (Md.) College, 7-2, on Thursday evening at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center. The Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season.

The Eagles opened play by sweeping all three doubles matches. Kait Brogan and Shelby Harris won at one, 8-2; Caroline Mosberg and Sara Fioretti won at two, 8-4, and Chrissy Gaul and Alina Suyama won at three, 8-1.

In singles, Washington grabbed its two points with wins at one and two. UMW scored points from Brogan at three, who won, 6-0, 6-0; Gaul at four, 6-1, 6-3; Taylor Diffley at five, 6-3, 6-1; and Danielle Mirabella at six, 6-0, 6-0.

Mary Washington will return to action on Wednesday when they visit the University of LaVerne in California at 5:00 Eastern time, as part of the annual Spring Break trip to California.
