University of Mary Washington senior Shelby Harris and sophomore Kait Brogan have been selected to play in the ITA Small College National Championships on Thursday and Friday in Sumter, S.C. Harris and Brogan, the second-highest nationally ranked duo competing, will be the second seed in the eight-team event in doubles, and will face Beck and Wallace of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Thursday in first round action at 3:00 p.m.
ITA small college national champs is comprised of the 8 regional champs (finalist for our region) for each small college division. NCAA Div II, III, NAIA and JUCO. Each division has its's own draw that is played out on Thursday and Friday. The winners of each division and place into a Super Bowl and they all play Saturday/Sunday.
The Eagles will be making their first appearance at the event since the fall of 2007, when Becky Morse-Karzen and Stephanie Kurti advanced.
