UMW Women's Tennis Competes at and Hosts ITA Southeast Regional

The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team hosted the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Southeast Regional Tournament this weekend.

The Eagles had several top results on Sunday, as Chrissy Gaul and Paige Weinberg each defeated seeded players en route to championship consolation finals appearances. Gaul defeated oppponents from Swarthmore and Salisbury, while Weinberg downed opponents from Hollins and Carnegie-Mellon.

Also in singles, UMW's Alina Suyama won the Blue 4 draw bracket, defeating opponents from Meredith College and Haverford to claim that draw's title.

In doubles, UMW's Berri Flood and Michaela Dowd won the Blue Draw 3 bracket, defeating opponents on Sunday from Elizabethtown and Meredith. Maddy Martin and Gaul won the consolation final of the Blue 2 Draw, defeating Bridgewater and NC Wesleyan on Sunday. Weinberg and Smith advanced to the Blue 1 draw finals on Sunday, and Lindsay Raulston and Shelby Harris advanced to the main draw quarterfinals.

The event will conclude at UMW on Monday.
