The Eagles fell behind, 3-0, after doubles, and dropped the first match completed to go behind, 4-0. With their backs against the wall, the Eagles got a win from Cassie Bowman at six singles in three sets to get on the scoreboard, and then saw freshman Lindsay Raulston win at four in straight sets.
Freshman Lauren Gaspar and junior Michelle Meadows both rallied for three-set wins to tie the score, and after falling in the first set, senior Courtney Goimarac captured her second set in a tie breaker to force a third set in the deciding match. Carnegie Mellon bounced back in the third set, leaving UMW one point shy of the win.
