The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team volunteered at the Micah house on Monday, January 17 in downtown Fredericksburg as a part of UMW's weeklong celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. through community service. The women of the UMW tennis team helped to prepare and serve breakfast, organized and distributed lunches, and cleaned and sorted non-perishable goods to help support the efforts of the Micah house, a hospitality center that is part of a coalition of eight city churches of Fredericksburg. At the Micah House, the area homeless are able to receive a hot meal, clean clothes, and the opportunity to meet with social workers and explore employment opportunities.
