
In addition to winning the inaugural NJAC Swimming and Diving Championship, the Mary Washington women's swim team took home a number of awards from the conference, the NJAC announced on Wednesday.
The Eagles picked up: the NJAC's Swimmer of the Year (Kinsey Brooks), Co-Coaching Staff of the Year, seven First Team placements, four Second Team awards, and a pair of Honorable Mentions.
Kinsey Brooks was named the NJAC Swimmer of the Year after placing first in five events -- the 100 breaststroke, 200 IM, 200 free relay, 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay -- and second in the 200-yard breaststroke, in addition to her three All-American finishes at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships two weeks ago.
The Eagles also earned Co-Coaching Staff of the Year as head coach Justin Anderson guided the Eagles to his fifth-straight women's conference championship while Ryan Sullivan and Grace Gartman assisted in the Eagles' winning efforts
In the 100-yard breaststroke, both Brooks (1:03.47) and Bridget Zagrobelny (1:03.99) claimed both First and Second Team honors with their respective finishes. Meanwhile, in the 200-yard breaststroke, Zagrobelny claimed First Team status (2:17.42), while Brooks finished second with a final time of (2:20.03).
In the 200-yard IM, Brooks finished first to earn First Team status with a final time of 2:03.87, while Zagrobelny claimed Second Team honors with a finish of 2:07.70, and Delaney Humphrey finished third to claim an Honorable Mention honor (2:08.03).
The 200-yard medley relay of Phoebe Root, Brooks, Bri Wilson and Margie Jones finished first and earned NJAC First Team status with a final time of 1:44.75. The 400-yard medley relay, too, earned First Team status with its victory at 3:50.16, which earned an NCAA B-Cut time.
The 200-yard freestyle relay of Brooks, Zagrobelny, Wilson, and Jones finished with First Team honors at 1:37.33 at the championship meet. In the 800-yard freestyle relay, Ann Karr, Hallie Perry, Rose McMullen and Marina Klein finished third to claim Honorable Mention honors with a final time of 7:50.25.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Root claimed her Second Team finish with a final time of 2:04.71. While in the 200-yard butterfly, Wilson claimed First Team status with her first place finish of 2:06.37.
