UMW Women's Swimming Strengthens Lead at METS Championships

The University of Mary Washington women's swim team strengthened its lead at the 2023 Metro Swimming Conference Championships on Saturday. The Eagle stand in first with 825 points, ahead of second place Rowan University, who has 645.5 points.

The Eagles started finals with an NCAA provisional cut in the 200 medley relay, as Phoebe Root, Kinsey Brooks, Margie Jones, and Thalia Costanza touched out at 1:45.11. Delaney Humphrey then followed with a second place finish in the 400 IM, with a time of 4:37.05. Bridget Wilson followed with a win in the 100 yard butterfly at 57.61, with Jones taking second at 57.72. Brooks then won the 100 breaststroke at 1:02.37, after swimming 1:01.99 in the morning - a strong NCAA B cut. Costanza was fourth and Bridget Zagrobelny fifth in the event.

The championships will conclude on Sunday.
