UMW Women's Swimming Tops Catholic, 192-70

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team defeated Catholic University, 192-70, on Saturday afternoon at Goolrick Natatorium. The Eagles improve to 7-1 on the season.

The Eagles started the day with a 1-2 finish in the 200 yard medley relay, as Phoebe Root, Thalia Costanza, Bridget Wilson, and Sydney Hall took first at 1:52.85. Jenny Thompson won the 200 freestyle at 2:03.82, Root finished first in the 100 yard backstroke at 1:01.66, and Kinsey Brooks won the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:06.18. Wilson then won the 200 yard butterfly at 2:18.42, and Sydney Hall followed with a win in the 50 free at 25.10.

Costanza won the 100 free at 57.39, Kaylie Curran won the 200 backstroke at 2:14.70, and Brooks won the 200 breaststroke at 2:23.48. Thompson won the 500 free at 5:28.07, and Brooks won the 200 IM at 2:12.08. The Eagles finished 1-2 in the 200 free relay, with top honors going to Julia May, Hall, Costanza, and Brooks at 1:42.34.

The Eagles will return to action on January 22 at Gettysburg College at 1:00 p.m.
