UMW Women's Swimming Tops Randolph-Macon, 137-112, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team defeated Randolph-Macon College, 137-112, on Saturday in Ashland, Va. The Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season.

The Eagles started swiftly by taking first and second in the 400 medley relay. Phoebe Root, Kinsey Brooks, Margie Jones, and Sydney Hall took first at 4:02.63, and Sarah Yowell, Bridget Zagrobelny, Bridget Wilson, and Selby Heyman finishing second at 4:09.69. Ashley Dyer finished first in the 1000 yard freestyle at 11:03.17, and Jenny Thompson won the 200 yard Individual Medley at 2:16.30.

Root won the 50 backstroke at 28.89, and Thalia Costanza followed with a win in the 50 breaststroke at 31.49. Julia May then won the 100 yard butterfly at 1:01.23, Hall won the 50 free at 25.22, and Costanza won the 100 IM at 1:01.46. Brooks won the 100 breaststroke at 1:06.50, Dyer won the 500 free at 5:21.55, and Brooks won the 50 fly at 26.85.

Delaney Humphrey won the 400 IM at 4:43.72, and the 200 free relay of Brooks, Hall, Anna Watson, and Costanza took first at 1:39.91, with Jones, May, Heyman, and Dyer taking second.

The Eagles will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to Franklin & Marshall College along with York College for a 1:00 p.m. dual-dual meet.
