UMW Women’s Swimming Tops SVU, 122-32, on Senior Day

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team topped Southern Virginia University, 122-32, on senior day in Fredericksburg, Va. The Eagles improve to 9-3 overall on the season.

Mary Zagrobelny won the 100 yard IM by more than eight seconds as she finished with a time of 1:03.71 and also placed first in the 200 yard breaststroke. Freshman Julia May took first in the 100 yard backstroke as she finished at 1:03.18. May also won the 100 yard butterfly at 1:00.93. Thalia Costanza won the 100 yard breaststroke and the 50 yard freestyle on the day. Senior Carley Vaughn placed first in the 200 yard butterfly, as well as, the 200 yard backstroke.

Sydney Hall took first in the 100 yard freestyle coming in with a time of 56.14. Jenny Thompson placed first in the 500 yard freestyle as she came in with a time of 5:25.79. The Eagles won the 200 yard medley relay with a team of Kaylie Benson, Julia Geskey, Mackenzie Katzer, and Zagrobelny. UMW also won the 200 yard freestyle relay with Jenny Thompson, Benson, Emily Warren, and Hall.

This was the last tune-up for the Eagles before they head to the CAC Championships that are held by St. Mary's starting on 2/13.
