The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards for the last week of November as the 2019-20 swimming campaign is underway. York junior Jake Halem earned CAC Men's Swimmer of the Week accolades, while Mary Washington junior Mary Zagrobelny claimed CAC Women's Swimmer of the Week honors.
MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Jake Halem - York (Pa.)
York junior Jake Halem had a great weekend with a pair of top five finishes for the Green and White. Halem was second in the 100 IM on Sunday, posting a time of 53.31 as he was just .08 seconds back of F&M's Alec Dibattista who won the event. Halem placed fourth in the 100 fly, as he touched the wall in a time of 51.99. Halem also finished ninth in the 200 IM and was a part of a pair of top ten relay teams. This marks the second time this year Halem has earned CAC Swimmer of the Week recognition.
WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Mary Zagrobelny - Mary Washington
Mary Washington junior Mary Zagrobelny took second in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:06.32, and the 200 yard medley relay of Carley Vaughn, Zagrobelny, Erin Whitesell, and Thalia Costanza took second at 1:47.09. On Sunday, Zagrobelny took second in the 200 free at 2:25.86.

WOMEN: Sydney Davidson (YCP), Brenna Litynski (SMC), Emma Tarnosky (SAL)
York sophomore Sydney Davidson placed fourth in the finals of the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:08.07. Davidson set a new school record in the event with her time of 1:07.59 in the preliminary race. Davidson was also a part of two top 15 relay teams at the F&M Invitational...St. Mary's junior Brenna Litynski captured a runner-up finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 24.47. Litynski followed her performance with another impressive showing in the 200 Yard Freestyle, finishing second with a time of 1:58.80 at the Randolph-Macon Invitational. On the second day of competition, Litynski captured a fourth-place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 54.58...Peter Orban set a new program record on Sunday (Nov. 24) at the Randolph-Macon Invitational to highlight the final day of competition. Orban swam a time of 1:55.01 in the 200 Yard Backstroke for a second-place finish in his record setting performance. In addition, Orban broke another school-record as he snapped the 100 Yard Backstroke program record on Saturday (Nov. 23) with a time of 52.73....Salisbury senior Emma Tarnosky earned two individual first-place finishes and two relay first-place finishes in Salisbury's win at Goucher on Saturday. Tarnosky finished with a season-best time of 2:06.85 in the 200-yard freestyle and won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:17.50. She also teamed with Teagan Rohrbaugh, Kiki Graham and Natalie Eakin to win the 200-yard medley in 1:57.26 and Jordan DeGruchy, Layla Tiberio and Mary McClune to collect a win in the 400-yard freestyle, clocking in at 3:57.45...Richie Baker earned two individual first-place finishes in the 50-yard back (26.17) and the 100-yard freestyle (43.78) in Salisbury's win at Goucher on Saturday, Baker's time in the 100-yard freestyle was a season-best,by nearly four seconds. Baker also teamed with Kyle Russell, Joshua Brown and Mitchell McGee to win the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:40.42....Noah Carpenter helped Mary Washington to a second place finish at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational with a victory in the 400 yard individual medley at 4:02.06, and also took fourth in the 200 IM at 1:53.21.
