UMW Women's Swimmers Fall to W&L in 2019-20 Lidlifter, 142-120

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team opened the season with a 142-120 defeat to visiting Washington and Lee University on Friday evening at Goolrick Natatorium.

Junior Claudia Keller picked up UMW's first victory of the evening in the 1000 yard freestyle, with a time of 10:52.30. Senior Julia Geskey took first in the 200 yard freestyle at 1:59.98, and freshman Thalia Costanza took first in the 50 yard freestyle at 24.88. 

Keller completed the endurance combo with a win in the 500 freestyle at 5:20.90, and the 400 yard freestyle relay of Grace Gartman, Geskey, Sydney Hall, and Costanza touched first at 3:37.87.

The Eagles will return to action next Friday when they visit the University of Lynchburg along with Bridgewater College at 6:00 p.m.
